Victoria mayor pledges support for microenterprises
Victoria Mayor Christian Yap has big dreams for the micro, small and medium enterprises located in his municipality in Tarlac province.
Addressing small business owners in the town, he said he expected them to expand and become large companies that will generate hundreds of jobs.
“Do your best, we are just here to support you so that we could help our community and our economy,” he was quoted as saying in a Philippine Information Agency report.
Yap was present during the distribution by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) of livelihood aid to 13 micro enterprises in Victoria.
DTI Provincial Director Agnes Ramirez said the Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (NSB) seeks to provide opportunities for entrepreneurs affected by the pandemic or other calamities to enhance the quality of their products.
“Under the NSB program, beneficiaries receive livelihood kits that can help them restore or develop their businesses. They were initially evaluated and chosen by DTI in consultation with the municipal government,” she was quoted as saying in the report.
