Vice Governor Doc Matias Umali says no to discrimination against former COVID-19 patients
Vice Governor Doc Anthony Matias Umali emphasized that discrimination has no place in Nueva Ecija.
On his Facebook page, he posted the Anti-Discrimination Ordinance No. 30-s-2020. This was the government’s answer to numerous reports of discrimination over those who’ve had COVID-19, was once a person under investigation (PUI) or a person under monitoring (PUM), and a healthcare worker. Some have been evicted from their homes, denied transportation, refused service in eateries and thrown with water and chlorine.
The vice governor called for kindness and compassion during these times. “Let us put aside our discomforts and allow ourselves to be more kind, compassionate, caring and loving of one another while we continue to pray for God’s mercy, understanding, and forgiveness.”
He also asked everyone to continue to pray for the Philippines. “Let us include in our prayers all who passed away, all patients, all front liners, all Novo Ecijanos and everyone who offered their time and resources.
