Unwelcome ‘Delta’ comes to Pampanga province

The dreaded Covid-19 variant with the same moniker as the nickname of Pampanga Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda has arrived in the province.

According to the latest bulletin of the Department of Health (DOH) in Central Luzon, Pampanga has recorded two cases of the Delta variant: an OFW from the Middle East who returned to San Fernando City and an 18-year-old from Mexico town.

The OFW is currently waiting for the results of the next swab test, a report in Sun Star Pampanga showed.

On the other hand, the patient from Mexico “has been staying somewhere in Metro Manila since June 20,” where she is being monitored and under quarantine, according to the municipal government.

“The Municipal Government of Mexico encourages everyone to be vigilant, stay calm, cooperate, follow the orders and stay at home,” the LGU said in a social media post.

“The local government is doing its best and exerts all its efforts to prevent and avoid the spread of the Covid-19. The public is encouraged to stop spreading fake news as it may cause confusion and scare to the public,” the statement added.
