Tarlac’s Covid-19 testing facility to be operational by mid-May — Yap
Tarlac Gov. Susan Yap said a new testing facility for the coronavirus set up by the provincial government at the Tarlac Provincial Hospital complex would start operations by the middle of May.
This is separate from the mass testing facility put up by the Philippine Red Cross, which starts on Monday.
“The provincial government’s medical technologists have been undergoing training for the last few weeks,” Yap said. “Technical assistance, equipment and facilities set-up was met with high regard by the group,” she said.
She added that the facility is on track to meet its target to be operational by the middle of next month.
The Department of Health and Research Institute for Tropical Medicine recently inspected the Molecular Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) Laboratory located at the Tarlac Provincial Hospital.
The facility has the capability to confirm coronavirus disease results through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test.
The provincial government has also signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the PRC to jumpstart PCR mass testing, starting Monday.
