Tarlac diocese to parishes: Refrain from crowded Holy Week activities
Parishes in Tarlac were reminded to refrain from crowded Holy Week activities that may further contribute to the spread of Covid-19 in the province.
The Diocese of Tarlac made the call as the Tarlac provincial government enforced stricter health protocols in response to the surge of the virus.
According to a circular letter by Tarlac Bishop Enrique Macaraeg, prohibited activities include “pabasa,” putting up of “kalbaryo” or calvary and booths in barangays, traditional processions on Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday, the Stations of the Cross, and visita iglesia.
The bishop encouraged simple forms of the Rite of Blessing in the sacramentary.
“Let us make the Holy Week an opportunity for us and the faithful to celebrate the mysteries of our salvation through the saving passion, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ,” he said in the letter.
