Tarlac cop who saved an elderly from floods gets award
A policeman from Camiling, Tarlac was awarded Monday by the Region III Police Office for saving a paralyzed elderly person from the floods caused by Tropical Depression ‘Josie.’
At Monday’s flag raising ceremony at the Region III Police headquarters in Camp Olivas, San Fernando City, Pampanga, PO1 Marvin Velasco of the Camiling Municipal Police Station was hailed as the July winner of the ‘One Commendable Act (OCA) Per Day Challenge’ of the regional police force.
Regional police director Chief Supt. Amador Corpus handed Velasco a certification of his award, titled “Best Good Deed for the Month of July,” as winner of the Best OCA Challenge – Individual Category.
Velasco was also pinned with the ‘Medal ng Kasanayan’ or the PNP Efficiency Medal for the same act that even generated commendation from several Facebook users.
In late July, the PRO3 OCA Challenge Facebook account shared a photo of Velasco carrying an elderly on his back amid a flooded area, with the caption, “Pulis Na May Malasakit sa Kapwa.”
