Tarlac City Mayor Angeles cites importance of Alternative Learning System

Tarlac City Mayor Cristy Angeles has underscored the importance of the Alternative Learning System (ALS) as the city hosted a regional advocacy program for this.

Spearheaded by the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Luzon Regional Office, the “Regional Advocacy on Alternative Learning System (ALS) Education: Literacy for All” was recently held at Diwa ng Tarlac Convention Center, Tarlac City.

“Education is a right, not a privilege,” Angeles said during the event.

She said that the Tarlac City government has been promoting and implementing programs that will truly give access to quality basic education.

With the program, the DepEd hoped that those from the informal sector would continue with their studies.

There were also booth exhibits of 20 schools division to promote and disseminate the importance of ALS and other various programs through media coverage and showcase accomplishments of ALS Education via projects and outputs.

Also present in the event were Tarlac Governor Susan Yap, superintendents and assistant superintendents of different divisions, DepEd regional supervisors, education program specialists, mobile teachers, district ALS coordinators and successful passers of ALS.
