Tarlac City builds citronella extraction center
The city government of Tarlac has been constructing an extraction center for citronella oil.
The center, first in the province of Tarlac, is located in Barangay Baras-baras.
Cynthia Chuidian, head of the Special Projects Management Unit, led recently the planting of citronella in the area.
Angeles has ordered the planting of citronella in public elementary schools in the city.
The harvested citronella grass will be brought to the extraction center.
The oil coming from citronella is being used in making perfume, massage oil, dishwashing liquid, fabric conditioner and candle among others.
