Subic Mayor Khonghun joins raid against “Kush” cultivators

Mayor Jay Khonghun of Subic, Zambales on Friday joined law enforcers in raiding a private residence that appeared to be an in-house plantation of “Kush” or “Cannabis Indica.”

The operation was conducted at around 2:15 a.m. at Block 13, Lot 4, Magdalena Homes, Subic, Zambales, that resulted in the discovery of more or less 70 pots of KUSH plants.

“Matinding operation ang ating sinamahan na ikinasa kasama ang PDEA, kapulisan, at opisyales ng barangay sa Magdalena subdivision,” Khonghun said on his Facebook page.

The politiko and the police said a British national and his Filipina partner were apprehended during the raid.

Police identified the foreigner as Simon Stuart Mclaren Watson, 44, while the Filipina is Rizza Fernandez, 28.

“Ito ay mga dayo sa Subic,” Khonghun said of the couple, adding that Fernandez is from Mindoro.

Authorities also seized various laboratory manufacturing and cultivating equipment for “Kush.”

The couple will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165.
