Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) chairman and administrator Rolen Paulino said the former United States Naval Base in Subic plays a pivotal role in the relationship between the Philippines and the US.
As a result, a rich cultural history between the two countries is “deeply ingrained in Subic Bay Freeport,” the SBMA leader said during US Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson’s visit to the Subic Bay Freeport earlier this month.
Paulino hosted Carlson during an ocular inspection of the area.
Carlson cited Subic Bay, as a former US naval base, as a sterling testament of the long history of partnership between the United States and the Philippines.
She added that the freeport was a favorite retirement place among former American servicemen.
