Soft opening of San Fernando’s rebranded City Market Plaza on Sept. 18

Small entrepreneurs and vendors are slowly returning to their stalls at San Fernando City’s newly-rehabilitated public market, now rebranded as the “City Market Plaza,” according to officials.

San Fernando City City Mayor Vilma Caluag led the inspection of the market stalls last week, from September 12 to 15.

She was joined by City Administrator Nelson Lingat, City Market Operations Division head Mila Rivera, CMOD Focal person Roy Pasumbal, and City Focal Person for Engineering, Building and Public Works Architect John Chu.

Clearing operations were conducted in the market from September 16 to 17 before its soft opening on September 18.

On September 9, Caluag held a dialogue with vendors who will occupy the stalls of the rehabilitated P250 million City Market Plaza.

The mayor spoke about the guidelines for the four-day ingress and preparations for the soft opening of the market, vowing that it would be flood-free and business-friendly.
