SM, gov’t teach over 200 farmers in Bataan of commercial vegetable planting
Some 216 farmers from Bataan underwent training on planting commercial vegetables to be sold in retail supermarkets, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 3 said.
The training was done under the “Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Rural Farmers’ Training Program” spearheaded by SM Foundation, Inc., in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA), Local Government Units (LGUs), and DSWD.
The beneficiaries were farmers from 20 villages in Dinalupihan.
“Harbest Agritech Services provided the technical briefing and hands-on training which included topics on land preparation, sowing, and harvesting,” DSWD Central Luzon said.
Project Development Officer II Khristine Fernandez of Sustainable Livelihood Program handled topics on project proposal writing and business planning, it added.
The harvest festival was held in Dinalupihan, Bataan on April 25 followed by the graduation ceremony on April 26 at SM Olongapo.
