Showdown looms between Fernando, Alvarado – report
A showdown is looming between incumbent Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando and former Governor Willy Alvarado in the 2022 elections.
According to a Punto Central Luzon report, Fernando and Alvarado, who used to be political allies, will be up against each other as the former seeks reelection while the latter wants a comeback.
On Wednesday, Alvarado’s wife, former Rep. Marivic Alvarado, filed her husband’s certificate of candidacy as he was reported to be on home quarantine after testing positive of Covid-19, the report said.
The report added that Alvarado’s running mate is his former rival, former Governor Jonjon Mendoza under PDP-Laban.
Fernando, on the other hand, is running with incumbent board member Alex Castro as his vice governor under the National Unity Party.
The two are expected to file their COCs Thursday, according to the report.
