San Simon mayor says multibillion-peso dev’t to boost town’s economy
The municipal government of San Simon in Pampanga approves the development of a business park in the town, which is expected to bring in P88 million of monthly income to the local government.
It is reported that Global Aseana Land Development Corporation will develop the 120-hectare open field in Barangay San Pablo Libutad.
According to San Pablo Libutad village chair Reynaldo David, the property was once a fertile land until lava covered the area during the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in 1991.
The Municipal Council approved through Municipal Ordinance 17-0014 the reclassification of the land from agricultural and residential to industrial this year.
Mayor Leonora Wong said the major development will help boost the economy of San Simon, which will generate 250,000 job opportunities for locals.
“This investment will play a major role in the economy of San Simon. Aside from the business itself, which is foreseen to attract other investments, the BPO and the malls will also provide decent jobs with decent incomes to Simonians of all ages while, at the same time, being together with their families,” Wong said.
Officials from Global Aseana assured the local government that 75 percent of the employment opportunities will be exclusive for Simonians.
