San Fernando City Mayor Santiago gives premium to part-time work opportunities for students
Mayor Edwin Santiago of San Fernando City, Pampanga reaffirmed this week his support for students who are determined to complete their studies amid financial challenges.
Santiago led last Monday the formal recognition of 62 college students in the city who completed the Special Program for the Employment of Students that is jointly implemented by the city government and the Department of Labor and Employment.
According to the city government’s information office, hundreds of Fernandino students have already benefited from the said program, which provides students an opportunity to generate income.
Monday’s batch of students is the third since the program was initiated.
The beneficiaries are deployed in different departments in the city hall where they work for about a month. Each student received a salary of P9,073.
Reiterating the importance of “hard work and perseverance,” Santiago said in his speech that the local government will continue to extend support to Fernandino students as he believes they will continue on with the tradition of good governance in the city.
