Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine Roman condemned what authorities believe to be a suicide bombing in Lamitan City, Basilan, which left 10 killed.

The politiko took to Instagram to send her condolences to the victims’ families on Wednesday, August 1.

“My heart goes out to the victims of the Basilan blast that claimed the lives of ten people, including a woman and a child. Terrorism has no place in a free and democratic society,” said Roman.

She then called for a thorough probe into the explosion.

“To the families of the victims, I send you my deepest condolences. Your beloved soldiers sacrificed their own lives to stop a deadly vehicle from killing even more people including innocent civilians,” said Roman.

“To the wounded – my love and prayers to you. May you have a swift and speedy recovery. To all the people of Basilan: be strong. And be vigilant. #JusticeforBlastVictims,” she added.

A thorough investigation should therefore be swiftly conducted to identify the perpetrators of this brazen attack. No stone should be left unturned. These terrorists need to be brought to justice.
