Roman: ‘No shame’ in being HIV-positive

Oct 17, 2018 @ 3:46

Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine Roman has a message for those with HIV: They should not be ashamed.

“Let me make it clear that there is no shame in being a person whk lives with HIV. HIV does not make you any less a human being, and in fact, many people who live with it continue to be productive members of our society,” said the politiko.

“They must not be shamed nor shunned, for they are as normal as me and you. Yes, even people living with HIV can live normal lives and have normal relationships,” she added.

Still, Roman said HIV should be discussed more in the Philippines.

“Prevention is better than cure, as they say. Abstibence and loyalty to our partners are just two of the many ways we can prevent an HIV infection,” said Roman.

“If sexually active, one must take the necessary precaytiobs – for the sake of your health and your partner’s,” she added.
