Roman: Eliminating gender discrimination a fight for all
As the world celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, Bataan Rep. Geraldine Roman reminded the public that IWD is not just a platform to forward women’s rights but the rights of all, including the LGBT community.
“Today, we celebrate the achievements of women all over the globe, and commemorate those who have fought – and those who continue to fight – for women’s rights and equality,” Roman said in a Facebook post.
“Today is also a reminder that we can overcome the challenges ahead only if ALL of us, both MEN, WOMEN, AND ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE LGBT COMMUNITY, come together to fight against gender discrimination, violence against women, as well as sexual exploitation and abuse,” she added.
The politiko also salutes all “strong, empowered women” of the country, as she vows to support their causes.
