Bataan Governor Abet Garcia’s recent State of the Children Address (SOCA) reinforced the need to protect the children as an imperative and not just an option.
“When we speak of children, we are referring to people below 18 years of age and more importantly, protecting the rights of these children is not just an option, but a responsibility,” Garcia said.
Bataan held its provincial children’s summit, led by the Provincial Council for the Welfare of Children (PCWC) this morning, at Lou-Is Resort & Restaurant.
During the summit, the PCWC presented its interagency reports as well as interventions undertaken by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
Aside from the SOCA, the following awards were given
Functional Local Councils for the Protection of Children (LCPC):
Progressive – Hermosa, Abucay, Bagac, Morong
Mature – Balanga City, Limay, Orani
Ideal – Pilar, Orion, Dinalupihan, Mariveles, Samal
Seal of child-friendly local governance unit 2016:
