Police arrest Tarlac LTO officer in anti-drug op

Authorities have arrested a high ranking official of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and who was on the police watchlist in an anti-drug operation in Tarlac City.

Police Regional Office 3 Director Chief Supt. Amador V. Corpus said Rogel Yambao, 59, officer-in-charge of LTO Tarlac District Office, was nabbed during the implementation of search warrant in Brgy. San Roque on Wednesday, May 9.

Confiscated from the suspect were nine pieces of heat sealed small transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu; one piece hand grenade; and 17 pieces of alleged caliber 45 cartridges.

“The arrest of Yambao, who is a high ranking official of LTO only goes to show that more and more unscrupulous government workers are involved in illegal drug and we continue to launch operations against all who are included in our target list and watchlist,” Corpus said.

Yambao was charged for alleged possession of dangerous drugs and for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
