Pineda suspends Balik-Pampanga program in 27 countries due to UK Covid variant

Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda announced that he had temporarily suspended the Balik-Pampanga repatriation program for overseas Filipinos based in 27 countries where the new variant of Covid-19 has been detected.
“Suspendido po muna ang tulong ng Balik Pampanga sa mga uuwing taga-Pampanga na galing sa 27 bansa na may bagong strain ng virus na sanhi ng Covid-19,” the governor said on Facebook.
Pineda said this is part of the provincial government’s efforts to ensure that Pampanga would remain free of the new, more infectious strain of the coronavirus.
“Bahagi po ito ng ating pagliligtas ng buhay laban sa Covid-19. Ituloy po natin ang disiplina at pag-iingat,” he said.
Pineda urged his constituents to continue following health and safety protocols:
• Magsuot ng face mask at shield.
• Maghugas lagi ng kamay o magpahid ng alcohol.
• Lumayo ng 1-2 metro sa mga tao.
• Iwasan ang matataong lugar.
