Pineda: EO on curfew, mall closure in Pampanga ‘fake news’

Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda disowned an executive order circulating in Pampanga province that falsely declared a province-wide community quarantine.
“ITO PO AY FAKE NEWS. HINDI PO ITO TOTOO. WALA PONG EXECUTIVE ORDER NA GANITO NA GALING SA AKIN,” the governor said on his Facebook page.
According to the fake order, a “province-wide community quarantine” has been declared in Pampanga.
“We will have a curfew of 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for non-essential personnel on the streets. Exempted are health care workers, peace and order officers, workers from the night shift of the processing zones with valid IDs, and LGU officers,” it read in part.
“Malls are ordered closed for the duration of the executive order,” it added.
“Restaurants can only accept takeout and delivery services. Dine-in is strictly prohibited,” the false order said.
The document also falsely claimed it would take effect on March 17 at 12:01 a.m.
