PhilSys registration centers in 3 Bataan towns closed down
Three of 13 registration centers in Bataan for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) have been temporarily closed down, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority.
The PhilSys centers in Mariveles, Hermosa and Samal towns will stop operating from June 16 to June 30, in accordance with stricter lockdown protocols in the province, PSA Bataan chief Francisco Corpuz said.
According to a Punto Central Luzon report, the closure of the PhilSys centers was requested by Mayors Jocelyn Castañeda of Mariveles, Jophet Inton of Hermosa, and Aida Macalinao of Samal.
Bataan has been placed under the modified enhanced community quarantine after a surge of Covid-19 cases in the province.
In the report, Corpuz said he respects the decision of the local executives “who are more knowledgeable as to the true situation concerning the pandemic in their respective municipalities.”
