CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Mayor Rene Maglanque of Candaba, this province disclosed on Sunday that he has been tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

When I felt the symptoms of Covid-19 such as fever, cough and diarrhea last Monday night, I immediately self-quarantined and consulted the Municipal Health Office. Because of this, I underwent a (reverse transcription) polymerase chain reaction (RT- PCR) test last Thursday and the result was released that I was positive of Covid-19 at around 5 p.m. Saturday,” Maglanque said in a social media post.

The mayor, who is now asymptomatic, appealed to those who came in close contact with him to undergo self-quarantine.

Makipag-ugnayan kayo sa ating Municipal Health Office para mapayuhan ng inyong mga dapat gawin (Contact tracing is currently ongoing and I am encouraging all those whom I have mingled with to undergo self-quarantine and carefully observe themselves for the symptoms of Covid-19. Please coordinate with the Municipal Health Office to give you an advice on what to do),” Maglanque added.

The mayor said he is strictly following the quarantine protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Department of Health.

Maglanque assured his constituents of continued service to Candabeños.

(Service continues in our municipality. Let us all be careful and pray for the health of every Candabeño),” he added.

As of July 18, Pampanga has a total of 212 confirmed Covid-19 cases, but only 22 are active, to date. Eighteen have died of the viral disease, while the rest have recovered. (PNA)
