Pampanga receives P3M incentive to build school buildings
As part of its incentive for winning the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award, the provincial government of Pampanga received a P3-million funding for the construction of school buildings.
Pampanga received the incentive through the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) for its good performance in internal housekeeping, and areas such as sound fiscal management, transparency, accountability, and performance management.
The PCF is an incentive fund to local government units (LGUs) in the form of counterpart funding to high-impact capital investment projects in the Annual Investment Program and the 20 percent Development Fund consistent with national priorities.
While it is still unclear where the local government plans to construct the new buildings, provincial director Myrvi Fabia said they are working to improve the performance of other towns that have yet to be recognized with the SGLG.
The SGLG award is being given by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to LGUs “that adhere to performance criteria on any of the following areas: good financial housekeeping (GFH), disaster preparedness, social protection for the basic sector, business-friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, and law and order and public safety.”
