Pampanga farms chosen as pilot area of P150M drip irrigation project
Pampanga farmers will pilot-test a drip technology of the Department of Agriculture that is seen to improve rice yield, Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda said on Friday.
“Sa meeting ko po kay Agriculture Secretary William Dar kahapon, Jan. 14, ang Pampanga po ay napili ng Department of Agriculture na maging pilot area ng P150-million Rice Productivity Enhancement Project Thru Drip Irrigation Technology,” he said on Facebook.
Pineda said he expects the new drip technology to help Pampanga farmers ensure a bountiful harvest.
“Inaasahan ko po na makakatulong po ang drip technology sa ating mga magsasaka, lalo na ngayong pandemya ng Covid-19,” he said.
Drip irrigation is a type of micro-irrigation system that has the potential to save water and nutrients by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants, either from above the soil surface or buried below the surface.
