Palayan to secure 40K Covid-19 vaccines to give residents for free
Officials of Palayan City in Nueva Ecija province are setting aside funds to purchase at least 40,000 Covid-19 vaccines to be administered for free to city residents.
The fifth-class city and Nueva Ecija capital has joined the growing list of local government units to earmark P50 million of its own funds for Covid-19 vaccines instead of relying on the national government, Palayan City Mayor Rianne Cuevas said on Facebook.
She said the city government was in talks to obtain an initial P50 million worth of vaccines.
“Susulat na po tayo kay Secretary (Carlito) Galvez para sa plano nating ito. Nakikipag-ugnayan na rin po tayo sa iba’t ibang accredited suppliers ng anti-covid vaccines,” Cuevas said.
The mayor said the plan of the city government was to inoculate 60 percent of its population to achieve herd immunity.
