Palayan mayor challenges Umali as she runs for Nueva Ecija governor
Palayan City Mayor Adrianne Mae Cuevas is challenging incumbent Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio Umali in the gubernatorial race in 2022.
The mayor filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) with the Commission on Elections last Friday.
Her running mate is former Vice Gov. Edward Thomas Joson.
The two will be going up against the Umali brothers, the governor and his brother, incumbent Vice Governor Anthony Umali.
According to a Punto Central Luzon report, Cuevas pledged to “extend to the province what she accomplished for her city, particularly on employment, health, and other services.”
Cuevas’ daughter Vianne also filed her candidacy for mayor of Palayan City, the report added.
