Pagcor donates P5M to Angeles City for quarantine facilities
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation has turned over P5 million in donations to Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. to help the city government address the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Pagcor chair Andrea Domingo, the donation will cover the charges from hotels that were tapped as temporary quarantine facilities for Covid-19 patients in the city.
Last April, Lazatin coordinated with members of the Hotels and Restaurants Association in Pampanga for their help in accommodating Covid-19 cases. They decided to designate a number of hotels as isolation areas for patients who are asymptomatic and with mild symptoms.
Currently, the city has 480 isolation rooms, officials said.
Of these, 230 are free of charge, are equipped with air coolers, and serve free meals for poor residents, while 220 with standard facilities also provide free meals but require occupants to shoulder 50 percent of the charges.
