Pagasa warns Bataan, Zambales folk to watch out for landslides, flash floods
The Pagasa weather bureau on Saturday issued a flood advisory for residents of Zambales and Bataan provinces as Tropical Depression Quinta continues moving toward the northwest portion of Luzon.
Rivers and tributaries particularly Pamatawan, Sto. Tomas, Bucao, Bancal and Lawis in Zambales and those in Balanga and Morong in Bataan were expected to be affected, according to state meteorologists.
“People living near the mountain slopes and in the low-lying areas of the above mentioned river systems and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils concerned are still advised to be alert for possible flashfloods and landslides,” Pagasa said.
The weather bureau forecast light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over a 12-hour period in Central Luzon.
As of 3 a.m. Saturday, Quinta was packing maximum sustained wids of 55 kph and gustiness of up to 70 kph, Pagasa said.
