P70-million bypass road to be constructed in Mariveles
Bataan Provincial Board Member Rolando Tigas said a P70-million bypass road project is set to be constructed in Mariveles.
Tigas, Infrastructure, Housing, and Land Utilization Committee chairman, said 6.3 kilometer bypass road would lessen the volume of heavy equipment and public utility vehicles traversing the zigzag road going to Mariveles.
The zigzag road going to Mariveles has been traffic-prone in recent years.
The Bataan politiko added the proposed alternative route will provide better access to the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) special economic zone and the commercial area of the province’s eco-industrial site.
The Freeport Area of Bataan in Mariveles, formerly the site of the country’s first export processing zone, is now the fashion manufacturing nucleus of the Philippines where high-end brands of garments, apparel, shoes, and accessories are produced.
