Authorities confiscated P13.6 million worth of shabu from a tricycle driver in Malolos City on Friday, the largest buy-bust operation in Central Luzon since the new Police Region Office (PRO)-3 director, Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay Jr. assumed office on November 2.

Col. Manuel M. Lukban, acting provincial director of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, identified the suspect as Abubakar Sandigan alias Kapatid, 31, a resident of Barangay 311, Quiapo, Manila.

“Sandigan was apprehended in the operation, which took place in front of Tikay Elementary School in Malolos City at around 1:35 a.m. by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) under the command of P/Lt. Col. Christopher Leano,” Lukban was quoted as saying in a Philippine News Agency report.

Baccay, according to the PNA report, described it as the largest anti-illegal drug operation in the region since he was sworn into office.

He commended the Malolos City police for two successful anti-illegal drug operations that include the seizure of some P890,000 worth of shabu on November 22.

“It is proof that Bulacan police are relentless in their efforts in implementing intensified campaign against illegal drugs and pursuit of criminals and syndicates behind illegal drugs,” Baccay said in the report.
