P121M in fuel subsidies given to Ecija farmers
Some P121,000 million worth of fuel subsidies have been distributed to Nueva Ecija farmers to help cushion the effects of rising fuel prices on the corn and fisheries sector, according to a Philippine Information Agency report.
The report said a total of 404 corn farmers from Nueva Ecija received P3,000 worth of fuel discount cards on July 13 at the Nueva Ecija Convention Center.
The DA continues to provide support to farmers and fisherfolk under the Fuel Discount for Farmers and Fisherfolk Program.
Beneficiaries can use the discount card to purchase either gasoline or diesel only from the partner/accredited gasoline stations such as Petron, Shell, PTT, Jetti, Total, and Unioil, the report said.
Eligible corn farmers were identified based on the guidelines of the Department of Agriculture Memorandum Circular 7, series of 2022, dated March 7.
To qualify for the subsidy, the farmer must be registered in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture; included in the Farmers and Fisherfolk Registry System; own machinery with proof of ownership, according to the PIA report.
