Over 200 gov’t workers join in DENR Central Luzon-led fun run
More than 200 government employees participated in a fun run Friday led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Central Luzon.
The KapaligiRUN 2018: Takbo para sa Kalikasan held in San Fernando City, Pampanga aimed to unify all government sectors to promote the protection of the environment through the less use of plastic materials, DENR Region 3 said.
Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Arthur Salazar underscored the Environment Month theme “Beat Plastic Pollution: If you can’t reuse it, refuse it” by encouraging participating offices to properly segregate wastes, since plastic pollution has continuously threatened the natural ecosystem.
Cooperative Development Authority Regional Director Mayette Hwang expressed her support to the programs of the DENR by conducting clean-up drives in select communities in the region.
The fun run served as one of the highlights of the celebration of Environment Month aimed at raising global awareness for positive environmental action.
