Octogenarian kills self after shooting 3 family members in Bulacan

Jealousy allegedly struck an 87-year-old man in Bulacan province so badly, he went on a shooting spree before dawn of Monday in their residence in Calumpit town, wounding three family members, including his wife.

According to a statement on Tuesday of the Bulacan Provincial Police, Luduvico

De Guzman got madly jealous because his 73-year-old wife, Adelaida, is rumored to have an affair with three priests.

Police said De Guzman used a caliber 38 revolver (Smith and Wesson) to shoot his wife, their daughter Jannette Gomez, 50, and daughter-in-law Myrna Lubao at around 2 a.m. of Sept. 3 in their residence in Barangay Gatbuca.

He then used the same to kill himself by shooting in the mouth.

His three victims survived the shooting, sustaining gunshot wounds only in the legs, but De Guzman was declared dead on arrival at the Sta. Cruz Hospital in Calumpit. His remains were later brought to the Superior Funeral Homes for paraffin testing and autopsy.

Police said a certain Luchie Mercado reported the shooting incident to the Calumpit Police, prompting authorities to respond.

De Guzman was found by police operatives in a room of their house separate from where the victims were.

The victims were brought to the Sacred Heart Hospital in Malolos City for treatment.
