The director of Central Luzon police, Brig. Gen. Cesar Pasiwen, has denied social media posts claiming there are vans roaming the region to kidnap women or children.

“Wala pong katotohanan ang mga kumakalat na balita, partikular sa social media hinggil sa di umano’y pagdukot sa mga kabataan maging dito sa ating rehiyon,” the chief of Police Regional Office in Region 3 (PRO-3) said.

He urged the public to refrain from posting or sharing unverified reports, reminding people that under Presidential Decree 90, spreading false information has a penalty of imprisonment of six to ten years.

“Binibigyan natin ng babala ang mga taong nagpapakalat ng maling impormasyon sa kaakibat na parusa ng kanilang gawain,” Pasiwen said.

He advised the public to go to the nearest police station in their area or follow the official social media accounts of the police for verified information.
