NEDA-ICC okays airport, railway projects in Central Luzon
The National Economic and Development Authority- Investment Coordination Committee (NEDA-ICC) has approved the construction of two major infrastructure projects in Central Luzon.
According to NEDA Undersecretary for Investment and Planning Rolando Tungpalan, the ICC has given its go signal for the P700-billion Bulacan airport and the P57.6-billion Subic-Clark Railway projects.
San Miguel Corporation has been proposing the Bulacan airport under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) scheme. But it will undergo a Swiss challenge wherein other bidders could participate.
But SMC, being the original proponent, has the right to match an offered bid by its competitor.
Meanwhile, the 71.13-kilometer Subic-Clark Railway project aims to support current industrial activities and the potential demand for freight services along the Subic-Clark corridor.
It is a joint project of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA).
The two projects will be elevated to the NEDA Board, chaired by President Rodrigo Duterte, for final approval. #
