An illegal firearms trader was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan last Monday.
The NBI identified the arrested person as Michael Perlas who has been charged for unlawful sale of firearms in violation of Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act.
Perlas was arrested by agents of the NBI National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) office during an entrapment operation in Bulacan.
Seized from Perlas were a 5.56 cal. Remington rifle, two 5.56 cal. Colt rifles, a 45 cal. Remington pistol, and a357 cal. Taurus revolver.
The NBI-NCr conducted the entrapment operation after being informed by the Philippine National Police – Firearms and Explosives Office (PNP-FEO) that Perlas has “no record of License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) nor was he an authorized manufacturer, dealer or engaged in business of buying and selling ammunition, firearms or parts for sale or distribution.”
