National ID system goes smoothly in Samal
The rollout of the national ID system in Samal town in Bataan is going smoothly, according to officials.
So far, the town has started accepting registrations for Step 2 of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys, with the taking of biometrics such as fingerprints, an iris scan and a front-facing photograph.
According to a Punto Central Luzon report quoting PhilSys supervisor Daisy Mae Buenaventura, officials began the Step 2 process in Samal last February targeting 8,900 individuals.
“So far, we have finished under the second step 5,291 registrants,” she was quoted as saying.
Buenaventura added that PhilSys targets 70 percent of the total population by the end of the year.
Registrants have to observe minimum health protocols by wearing face masks and face shields, keeping their distance from each other and using hand sanitizers.
