Morning after ‘Karding’, Ecija farmer in viral video laments lost yield

The Nueva Ecija rice farmer whose video expressing his fears about Typhoon Karding had gone viral made a new post on Monday, the morning after the storm’s onslaught.

This time, he confirmed that his worst fears came true – the typhoon destroyed most of his crops in his farm located in Laur town.

“Hindi maganda ang umaga ngayon dito sa Laur. Sobrang damage ng bagyo dito sa aming palayan, kahit saan ka tumingin dapa,” Felix Pangibitan said in his new video.

Although he expected the outcome, the farmer said he was still disappointed knowing that 60 to 70 percent of his expected harvest was lost.

“Ganoon ang buhay e,” Pangibitan said, adding: “Ang pagsasaka walang kasiguraduhan, nakadepende sa panahon.”

On Sunday, his video expressing how difficult it is to be a farmer received hundreds of thousands of views, many of whom said it was heart-breaking.
