Mayor supports fellow Rotarians in restoring San Fernando River
The Rotary Club of San Fernando in Pampanga province is committed to restore the city’s river to its natural beauty.
Last September, the group has partnered with the City Government of San Fernando to facilitate the restoration with its riverwalk and ecopark project. It aims to revive the San Fernando River (Sta. Lucia portion).
“We have always been committed to the environment, particularly through managing our vital natural resources,” said Rotary Club of San Fernando (Pampanga) president Fer Caylao.
The project also involves developing the riverbank as a recreational area with outdoor activities for residents.
During the turnover ceremony of the project, Caylao recognized the support of their fellow rotarian, no less than the city mayor.
“As we were thinking of our legacy project last year, we all agreed upon the Riverwalk and eco-park initiative, which we now believe, we can better manage through the help of our city government led by our fellow rotarian, Mayor Edwin Santiago,” he added.
Under their agreement, the riverwalk and eco-park’s facilities are now under the maintenance of the city government and will be funded through the contributions of Rotary members and other private partners.
