Mayor Edwin Santiago of San Fernando City, Pampanga commended employees of the city government who took part in their two-month outreach program that culminated last Tuesday, Nov. 27.
According to the city information office, Santiago congratulated all city hall employees “for a job well-done” in their first-ever “City Employees’ Outreach Program.’
The project, which was an initiative of the City Human Resource Management, was launched in September during the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary celebration.
Co-organized by the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the Local Council for the Protection of Children, it enjoined city government employees to help street children, in time also for the
National Children’s Month.
The city information office said 52 street children and mendicants from several villages in the city were given hygiene kits, school supplies, clothes and foot wears, courtesy of the local government employees.
There was also actual interaction for sharing of stories and playing traditional Filipino games.
“The real meaning of public service is extending help to disadvantaged people, especially the children,” Santiago said as he commended the city hall employees.
“Napakahalaga na may sapat na gamit sa eskwela ang mga bata upang makapag-aral sila nang mabuti. Napakahalaga din na may sapat silang gamit at mga hygiene kits upang maprotektahan ang kanilang katawan
mula sa sakit,” he added.
