San Luis Mayor Venancio Macapagal said the hard lessons learned following the bird flu outbreak in the municipality must not be forgotten.

The Pampanga politiko, in a SunStar article, said biosecurity must be strictly implemented to prevent another outbreak.

“The problem was solved, we are slowly recovering. But after all that’s happened, we must not forget the lessons to avoid being victimized by bird flu again,” Macapagal said.

More than 200,000 birds were culled in San Luis during the bird flu outbreak.

Disinfection of the poultry farms is still ongoing and is expected to be finished by the end of 2017.
