Mayor Lazatin not joking: 546 nabbed for not wearing face mask in Angeles City
ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – A total of 546 individuals were apprehended by the city government here for loitering and not wearing face masks in public.
This came on the heels of the intensified campaign of City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. under Ordinance No. 546 on the stricter implementation of health and safety protocols to curb the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
The measure penalizes individuals not wearing face masks, not bringing quarantine passes, and loitering outside of their homes. The fine for first time violators is P1,000 and higher for repeat offenders.
The mayor also ordered the conduct of a massive information drive to remind Angeleños of the city’s regulations and protocols against Covid-19.
Lazatin also warned residents of the consequences of violating the government’s health protocols in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in this city.
As of Saturday, there are 105 Covid-19 patients in the city of which 56 are active cases, 43 have recovered and six died. (PNA)
