Mayor Lacson of Magalang, Pampanga receives Philippine Heritage Award for municipality
Mayor Maria Lourdes Lacson of Magalang, Pampanga received Wednesday the Philippine Heritage Award conferred to her municipality by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
The award was presented no less by President Rodrigo Duterte in formal rites at Malacanang Palace in Manila.
The NCCA chose Magalang municipality as recipient of the Philippine Heritage Award – Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage Category “in recognition of its exemplary work and contributions in the area of heritage preservation and conservation efforts.”
The municipality’s program that promotes and sustains the oral tradition of the Lubenas during the Christmas season was particularly recognized.
Vice Mayor Norman Lacson joined in accepting the award, which included a Presidential citation and a trophy.
The Philippine Heritage Award is one of four recognitions conferred in Wednesday’s ceremony. The others are the Presidential Medal of Merit, the National Artist Award, and the National Living Treasures.
