Mayor Lacson lauds recognition of ‘heliograph towers’ as cultural properties
Magalang Mayor Malu Paras-Lacson on August 21 hailed the declaration of National Museum that the municipality’s “Heliograph Towers” are cultural properties.
The heliograph towers built by the Spaniards to serve as stations of communication.
The Pampanga politiko said the declaration is recognition of Magalang’s heritage.
“Our heritage is a legacy from our past. It is something we live with today and hopefully, something that we can pass on to future generations. In every country, cultural heritage is both a record of life and history and also an irreplaceable source of creativity and inspiration. Our cultural heritage determines who we are, giving us both identity and the values that will guide our lives in a changing world,” she said.
Lacson said it’s the responsibility of the present generation to preserve its heritage.
Lacson added the Magalang municipal government will soon submit the colonial houses in the town for future declaration.
