Mayor Kokoy Salvador celebrates birthday through personally donating relief goods for San Jose
“Hindi po ito pang-April Fool’s Day na kwento. Totoo pong birthday ko ngayon,” San Jose, Nueva Ecija Mayor Kokoy Salvador started his Facebook caption with.
There was no celebratory party, just prayers of thanks and wishes that everything will be okay soon. He called for everyone’s unity and support to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The mayor said that it is more dangerous since unlike the storm or thunder, the virus couldn’t be seen.
With this in mind, he decided to donate 1,000 cavans of 50 kilograms of rice from his own pocket. This will be added to the funds the local government has and all the donations it has received so far.
The mayor did not ask for any gifts or greetings but just prayers and if possible, donations in kind and in cash that will be used to help low-income households in this time of need.
