Masantol rewards clean households with 1 kilo of rice per week
The Masantol municipal government has launched a cleanliness drive called “Tapat Mo, Linis Mo” to encourage residents of the Pampanga town to keep their front yards free of trash and to observe personal hygiene to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The project, which rewards households that observe cleanliness, was spearheaded by Councilor Liezle Guintu, according to a report in Sun Star Pampanga.
Under the program, households that are kept tidy and practice waste segregation regularly get a reward of one kilo of rice every week, and an additional five kilos if they maintain the cleanliness, the report said.
“We understand that the reward is not much but I believe the maintenance of cleanliness in their community is already a prize for them and their family,” Guintu was quoted as saying in the report.
The councilor urged Masantol residents to take part in the program.
“We hope that we will be united in this advocacy that will benefit not only one household but the whole community and if we are lucky, the next generations to come,” added Guintu.
