The municipal government of Magalang in Pampanga has declared an academic break from January 24 to 28, 2022 amid the latest wave of Covid-19 cases in the town.

Magalang Mayor Romy Pecson issued Executive Order 2 Series of 2022, declaring the suspension of classes from elementary to college in all public and private schools in the municipality.

He said this was in consideration of the increasing number of students and teachers suffering from Covid-19 and flu-like symptoms.

During the academic health break, all synchronous and asynchronous classes will be put on hold, while submission of academic requirements and conduct of other teaching related activities must be moved to a later date.

The local government recorded 14 new cases of Covid-19 on January 22. There were also 134 active cases and 11 patient recoveries in the town as of January 22.
