Mabalacat mayor positive for Covid, urges public to ‘take pandemic seriously’
Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo urged residents of his city to take the pandemic seriously after he tested positive for the coronavirus over the weekend.
“It saddens my heart to inform my fellow Mabalaqueños that despite following health protocol, I have tested positive for Covid-19,” he said in a statement.
According to the statement, the mayor had a fever on Friday, prompting him to get tested and to isolate himself. The test came out positive on Saturday.
“I have personally informed most of the people whom I interacted with in the past week, and a full-scale contact tracing is ongoing,” Garbo said.
“In spite of the fact that I always wear face mask, face shield and observe physical distancing whenever I go out, I still urge everyone who has come in contact with me in the past few days to have themselves tested,” the mayor added.
“Take this pandemic seriously and do our part in order to stop the spreading of this virus,” Garbo told his constituents.
“I ask the people of Mabalacat City to fervently pray not only for our community but also for the world to overcome the challenges that brought about by this pandemic,” he added.
